Masterson’s Rye Whiskey is a classic Canadian Rye Whiskey, born in California, and named after the famous Midwestern gunfighter and bon-vivant Bat Masterson. The Deutsch Family purchased the brand just recently to fill out their Whiskey line-up. But what you’ll care about most is that this is a true-blue Rye Whiskey that has a few rare qualities. First, it’s 100% Pacific Northwest Rye — there’s no corn, wheat, or barley in the mash at all. Next, it’s distilled in pot stills and aged a full ten years in new American oak casks. With demand being so high, it seems to get harder every year to find a true Rye Whiskey that old. Finally, it’s bottled at a wonderful 45% ABV, so it stands up to ice like a champ. All that yields a pure, fragrant Rye expression with a genuine character that doesn’t taste like everything else.
Scent – Aromatic with granola clusters and creamed cherry.
Palate – Warm grains, fresh oatmeal cookies, lightly grassy, and classic Rye spice with extra white pepper.
Finish – Relatively short, but creamy and tingly.
